Container Assistant
Setting up a container in your JENTIS Tag Manager in 5 steps
Get your tracking setup up and running easily with our container assistant.
Step 1: Connect a domain
Enter the domain you want to connect to the JENTIS container.
An example of a correct domain name would be example.com.
This step is mandatory as it is the basis for setting up JENTIS.
JENTIS also allows you to add a test domain for testing and previewing. If you have such a setup, you can add the address of the preview domain here. If not, please enter your primary domain in this field.
Step 2: Name the container
As you must select your container at various stages of the process, please give it a unique name.
The advantage of having dedicated containers for each domain is that you can configure your current tool, like Google Analytics 4, for the specific container. This avoids having to reinstall the same tool on different iterations.
Step 3: Set up your tracking
Now that you’ve taken the first steps to setting up a container, it’s time to bridge the gap between your website and the JTM on the technical side.
In this section, we provide you with the necessary JavaScript snippet that you need to implement on each of your pages. All your input from the previous step has been dynamically inserted into this snippet. If you cannot implement this code yourself, please provide this script to your technician.
For an optimal tracking experience, please place the snippet in the section of your website as the first script.
Single page applications
You can also implement the JavaScript snippet in a Single Page Application (SPA). In this case, you must manually tell JENTIS to trigger a page call on each page. Please follow the instructions listed here. If you have any questions about this setup, please consult our documentation or contact our Customer Support at support@jentis.com.
Once you have included the JavaScript snippet in your website, you can mark your option as done and proceed to the next step.
Step 4: Enter A Record
Since JENTIS is a first-party tool, it must become part of your main tool stack, just like your Content Management System (CMS). Please add a DNS A Record to your hosting settings using the information on this page. When you are done, mark this task as completed.
Step 5: Connect your CMP
If you are using a Consent Bar or Consent Management Platform (CMP), please select it from the drop-down menu.
This step is optional. You can find further instructions here.
