Publishing your tracking setup on your website

Now that you have created your container as a bridge between your website and the JENTIS Tag Manager and configured your tool according to your needs, it is time to publish your configuration to start tracking.
We will guide you through the publishing process in three simple steps.

Interface Overview

Let’s first take a look at the interface. In the main menu on the left side of the screen, click the “Publish” section. At the top of the screen, you will see the container overview.

If you are working with several containers, you can switch between the individual versions either by clicking on the arrows on the left or right side in the container overview.
Alternatively, you can select the container in the “Container filter” drop-down menu.

The container overview is divided into two components. On the left side, you see the published version and on the right side the current version that has not yet been published.

If a container has not been published, the field on the left is empty. After the first version of a container has been published, additional information such as version number, publication date or publication author is displayed. Now that you have selected your container, we will look at your options.

Step 1: Change Log

The changelog displays all relevant information about the container. It documents all changes made to the container by the JENTIS Tag Manager or a specific user.

Step 2: Preview

Preview lets you observe data streams in real-time before publishing a new version on your live system.

Caution: Are you using Google Chrome as your default browser? Please make sure that pop-ups are allowed for our platform. Otherwise, you will not be able to proceed to the next step. To enable pop-ups, navigate to your search bar and allow pop-ups for the JENTIS DCP. You only need to do this step once. This is not necessary in the Firefox, Opera and Edge browsers.

After enabling pop-ups in Google Chrome, please click the Preview button to continue. To see your live data stream in action, please click “Start Debug Session”. A new tab on your browser will open the website you specified when setting up the container.

The live data stream is displayed under “Live Data” as soon as the debug session begins. In the “Source Filter” drop-down menu, you can filter by Client-Side, Hybrid, Rawdata or Server-Side. You can also display your streams by “All Logs”, “Executed”, “Unexecuted”, “Errors”, or “Infos”.

Now that you can see the data stream, please return to the publication overview.

Step 3: Publish

The last step is to publish the current container version in your environment. Please click on “Publish” to continue. A pop-up window appears in which you can provide your version either in a live or in a stage environment. Please select the desired option from the drop-down menu. You can also add a description of your setting. Click on “Publish” to finish.

Congratulations, you have successfully published your changes! You have now defined a basic setting for your website in the JENTIS Tag Manager.
